FAQs

Questions, answered.

Everything people ask before signing up: how fixed wireless works, installation, billing and phone service.

Home internet

Is this satellite or cellular internet?

No. Fiber runs to our towers, and a fixed point-to-point radio link connects that tower to a small antenna on your home. It behaves like cable or fiber internet: steady speeds and low latency.

Traditional satellite has to bounce signals off space, which adds 600 ms or more of delay. Our fixed wireless network typically answers in under 30 ms, which matters for video calls, gaming and VPNs.

How is fixed wireless installed?

A technician mounts a small antenna and radio on your roof (from a 4 × 12 inch panel up to an 18 inch dish, depending on distance), runs an outdoor-rated Ethernet cable down the wall along the least visible path, and brings it inside through a sealed entry.

Inside, the cable connects to a small power adapter (PoE) and then to your router or computer. The radios are lightweight and low power, about 9–18 watts. Residential installation is currently free in most areas.

Do I need clear line of sight to a tower?

Yes. Fixed wireless uses low-power radio signals, so trees, hills or buildings between your antenna and our tower can block or weaken the connection. As a rule of thumb, if you can see our tower, silo or hilltop from your roof, you can usually get service.

Obstructions near the path (the "Fresnel zone") can also reduce the signal. Common fixes include mounting on an existing TV mast or tower, a small mast, or trimming trees. Major line-of-sight work isn't part of a standard install and is quoted separately.

Does weather affect the service?

Rarely. Rain affects fixed wireless far less than satellite, and connections normally stay stable through winter storms. Extreme multi-day storms can cause some slowdown.

The most common long-term issue is trees growing into the signal path, or high winds knocking an antenna out of alignment. Call us and we'll re-aim or relocate the antenna.

Are there data caps?

No. Our plans don't have data caps or overage fees.

Do I need a phone line?

No. Our internet is a complete connection on its own. If you want to keep your home number, our home VoIP service is $20/mo, or forward your home number to your cell phone for $10/mo.

How much speed do I need?

For email, web browsing, shopping and school work, 10–25 Mbps is plenty. Most households are happy with 50–100 Mbps, which handles several HD streams at once.

Plan on 15–25 Mbps per 4K stream and about 4–6 Mbps per HD stream. Video calls need more upload, ideally 7 Mbps or more if you share your screen. Online gaming uses little bandwidth but benefits from low latency; cloud gaming services can use 30 Mbps continuously. Gigabit mainly speeds up very large downloads.

What is latency, and why does it matter?

Latency (or ping) is how long data takes to reach a server and come back. High latency makes video calls choppy, games laggy and VPNs sluggish, even when download speed looks fine.

Satellite and some cellular connections commonly see 300–900 ms. Our fixed wireless network typically averages under 30 ms.

How does the internet reach me over your network?

We connect to California's fiber backbone, then distribute that capacity over licensed wireless and fiber links to towers from Orland to West Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, Roseville, Yuba City, Williams and Oregon House.

The radio at your home creates an encrypted link to the nearest tower. If a regional fiber line is cut, our private wireless core can route traffic around the outage.

How secure is the wireless connection?

Traffic between your radio and our tower is encrypted (AES) and only authorized devices can join the network. We also run DDoS monitoring and mitigation that responds within seconds to attacks on our network and customer connections.

Billing

How does Succeed bill me?

Residential service is billed monthly by automatic credit card or ACH (eCheck) payment, and you'll get an emailed receipt.

Business accounts can pay by credit card, ACH (preferred) or company check. Past invoices and payments are always available in your customer portal, where you can also update your card or switch to ACH.

Is there a contract?

No. Service is month to month, and new internet customers get our 30-day "No Regrets" guarantee: if you're not satisfied in the first 30 days, we refund what you paid.

Business service

Do you offer static IPs?

Yes. We can provide a single static IPv4 address or a block of addresses for servers, firewalls and business equipment.

Do you offer an SLA?

Business plans automatically get priority support and repairs. Dedicated connections come with full SLA terms similar to fiber.

What does business installation cost?

Standard business installation is $100, and equipment is included with your monthly service. Dedicated connections are quoted individually, since tower fees, FCC licensing and specialized radios depend on the speed and distance required.

Do you offer temporary or construction connections?

Yes. We provide short-term internet for job sites and events, typically with about two weeks of lead time. Contact us for a quote.

Phone service (VoIP)

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes. Number transfers (porting) are free and usually take one to two weeks once we have a signed Letter of Authorization and your account details from the current carrier. We'll give you a temporary number in the meantime.

Occasionally a carrier or region can't release a number; in that case we'll provide a new one. Confirm with your old provider that your service is cancelled after the transfer completes.

Can I use custom music or messages on hold?

Yes, on business accounts. Send us .wav or .mp3 files (you need the rights to the content) and our VoIP team will set them up company-wide, per queue or per user.

Can I take my VoIP phone to another location?

Yes. Your numbers and equipment work on any good internet connection. Just update your 911 address for each phone whenever you move it, so emergency services know where you are.
